Report: Raiders, Allegiant Close to Las Vegas Stadium Naming-Rights Deal

A naming-rights deal for Las Vegas Stadium could soon be in place, with ESPN reporting that the Raiders and Allegiant Air are close to an agreement.

Currently under construction, the new Las Vegas Stadium will open in 2020 for the relocating Oakland Raiders and UNLV football. A naming-rights agreement for the facility has not been announced thus far, though a news report indicates that Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air could be close to reaching a deal with the Raiders. It was reported by Paul Gutierrez of ESPN on Wednesday that the two sides are “nearing” an agreement.

Allegiant had been speculated as a possible naming-rights partner for the Raiders in recent months, coming on the heels of the airline submitting a trademark filing for Allegiant Stadium. At the time, the company downplayed its connection to a potential naming-rights agreement, though it was acknowledged that Allegiant and the Raiders had had discussions about potential sponsorship opportunities.

Allegiant, an airline that specializes in low-cost flights, has made previous inroads in sports marketing. It announced a multi-year partnership last September to become the “Official Domestic Airline Partner” of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights, and is also the official airline of Minor League Baseball
