The future home of the relocating Oakland Raiders is taking shape, as officials report that Las Vegas stadium construction is on time and on budget.
Ground was broken last fall on the new Las Vegas stadium. The Raiders are expected to move into the facility, which is being constructed as part of a $1.8 billion project, in time for the 2020 NFL season.
From the latest update, it appears construction of the facility is making solid progress. Las Vegas Stadium Authority Officials reported late last week that the facility is coming in on time and on budget, and that some key construction milestones will take place later this month. That, combined with strong sales by the Raiders, seems to be giving the project some momentum. More from the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
Las Vegas stadium work crews are putting the equivalent of about $4 million a day into work at the site, and the project is on time and on budget, Las Vegas Stadium Authority officials said Thursday.
Precast steel is arriving at the site at Interstate 15 and Russell Road this week, and the last grade-level concrete slabs are scheduled to be poured later this month.
More than 500 workers are on the $1.8 billion, 65,000-seat indoor football stadium project due to be completed in time for the 2020 NFL season.
Stadium authority officials and Raiders executives also reported that sales of personal seat licenses — contracts with fans that give them access to purchasing season tickets for Raiders games for 30 years — are going better than expected.
In addition to the Raiders, the new stadium is set to be the home of UNLV’s football program.
