The soon-to-relocate Raiders and California-based San Manuel Casino have struck a founding partnership for Allegiant Stadium, the team’s upcoming Las Vegas home.
Leading up to its 2020 opening, the Raiders have struck several founding partnerships for the upcoming facility. A new agreement was announced Monday, as the Raiders and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians unveiled a deal that makes San Manuel Casino the Official Southern California Casino of Allegiant Stadium.
In discussing the partnership, Raiders officials noted that they maintain a strong contingent of fans in Southern California from the franchise’s days in Los Angeles, a trend that the team expects will continue when it completes the move from Oakland to Las Vegas. From the team’s perspective, that makes San Manuel Casino–located in Highland, CA–a logical partner. More from the Las Vegas Sun:
“We’ve talked often about how the (Allegiant Stadium) project is going to be transformative for the city of Las Vegas, the Raiders, the region and also for our partners,” said Raiders President Marc Badain at a news conference at the team’s Preview Center at Town Square. “We’re excited to have San Manuel Casino as a founding partner.”
The agreement — terms were not disclosed — made sense on a number of levels, including the fact that the Raiders will maintain a strong Southern California following after the team moves to Las Vegas, Badain said.
“As everybody knows, we’ve been in multiple markets,” Badain said. “Our history in Los Angeles was a very significant and successful one, and we maintain a very strong fanbase in the Southern California area. A significant portion of our (personal seat license) holders are coming from the region.”
Allegiant Stadium will host the Raiders and UNLV football upon its opening. It will also be home to the annual Las Vegas Bowl, and is expected to be a positioned as a draw for other major events in the Las Vegas region.
