An offseason improvement to Arrowhead Stadium is underway, as the installation of new upper-deck seating has begun.
In January, the Kansas City Chiefs announced a slate of upgrades to Arrowhead Stadium that would be completed prior to the 2019 season. Of those changes, the installation of new upper-level seating–equipped with cup holders–will be among the most noticeable to fans.
That improvement is now taking shape, as the installation of seating is underway. Photos of the project were posted to Arrowhead Stadium’s Twitter account on Monday, providing a glimpse of the new red seats that will serve fans in the facility’s upper level.

Along with the addition of new seating, the upgrades announced by the Chiefs in January include a re-application of waterproofing measures in the upper level and an improved video display. The video display over the stadium’s west end zone will keep its size and shape, but receive new LED panels in order to improve the picture quality. At the time of the announcement, the renovations were estimated to be in excess of $10 million.
