The Carolina Panthers sent select fans a survey this week on potential Bank of America Stadium renovations, seeking feedback on amenities that could be included in a project.
Facility upgrades are a priority for Panthers owner David Tepper, who is pursuing a new training complex/team headquarters in South Carolina and could make extensive upgrades to Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte. To gather fan feedback on additions that could be made to Bank of America Stadium, the Panthers sent a survey to select fans that also asked questions about a potential Charlotte MLS expansion team that would play at the renovated facility.
Per The Riot Report, the survey asked questions about interest in amenities such as party decks, field-level suites, a high-end club, and more. Their inclusion in the survey does not necessarily mean that these additions would make it into a final renovation plan, but it does provide a sign that the Panthers are looking to provide a greater array of premium/gathering spaces at Bank of America Stadium.
Exactly how the Panthers’ facility plans unfold remains to be seen. Bank of America Stadium upgrades would likely be planned over a longer-term process, and there are of course still questions about the scope of potential renovations, their cost, and funding model. Furthermore, the Panthers are still pushing to finalize their proposed training complex/team headquarters in South Carolina, with state officials currently debating the economics of the proposal. Building the training complex is key to the organization’s long-term plans, as it would provide training space to replace the practice fields near Bank of America Stadium and potentially free up some of that land for new development.
Still, with the survey, it appears that the Panthers are trying to get a sense of what fans would expect in a future Bank of America Stadium renovation project. It also shows another sign of Tepper’s interest in an MLS expansion club, though that pursuit would come with its own set of questions.
