Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium to be Showcased on Thursday

Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium

Thursday night’s Hall of Fame Game will provide a fitting showcase for Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, which has received several upgrades.

Work has been taking place to modernize the stadium and make it more versatile. While the facility will continue to host the annual Hall of Fame Game as part of the events for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s inductions, it is also expected to be used for a wider variety of events on a year-round basis.

Many of the finishes touches from the renovation project are in place for Thursday night’s matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys, and more work is expected to take place in future phases. This comes as events for Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium are being lined up for years down the road. More from Cleveland.com:

During the regular football season, Malone College, Walsh University and McKinley High will all play their home games at the stadium. And there will be more.

“Ohio high school football championships will be here this year,” [Hall of Fame chief of staff and vice president of communications Pete] Fierle said. “The Black College Football Hall of Fame will have their kickoff classic here in the future, and there will be about 10-to-12 concerts a year. It’s a very flexible venue.”

Also, in 2020 and 2021, the Division III national championship game will be played at the stadium.

The North, South and West stands have been completed. The only things still to be completed are the East grandstands and a permanent scoreboard. The East seats are scheduled to be built in September.

The Tom Benson Hall of Fame Staduum renovation project has also been focused on providing new premium spaces, and improving player facilities, including locker rooms. Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game is scheduled to air at 8:00 p.m. eastern on NBC.
