Memberships for Colorado State Stadium Porch, Field Club Sold Out

Fan support for the new Colorado State Stadium continues to be strong, as season memberships for two intriguing areas of the facility have sold out.

Two areas of the new Colorado State Stadium that have been noted here previously are the New Belgium Porch and the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Field ClubThe concepts for the two spaces present intriguing possibilities for the stadium, and so far ticket holders are responding with their support.

Access to the New Belgium Porch and the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Club was made available in the form of memberships, which could be purchased as ad-ons by season ticket holders. The 1,200 memberships for the New Belgium Porch–priced at $200 apiece–have all sold out, as have the 600 memberships for the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Club, which were available for $400.

According to Colorado State, the sales generated in these areas will help manage the debt service associated with the stadium. More from The Coloradoan:

[Athletic director Joe] Parker said he knows fans would have preferred greater access to those areas, particularly the New Belgium Porch. But selling season memberships to both was the best way for the university to meet its obligation “to manage the debt service” on bonds sold to pay for the construction of the $220 million stadium.

Colorado State University’s payments on the three sets of bonds used to cover construction costs for the stadium will total $7.6 million this year and increase to $12.2 million from 2021-2055, a Coloradoan analysis determined.

Parker said the New Belgium Porch will be open to the public at other times throughout the year, with a specific schedule to be determined.

“Our intent has been to, when appropriate, have it open so that people that are on campus or close to campus or in town, if they want to come and use it they can,” he said.

The university sold out its premium areas, designed to hold up to 1,600 fans on game days, in the new stadium last fall. Sales of the private suites, indoor and outdoor clubs and loge boxes will bring in more than $3 million a year for each of the stadium’s first three seasons. Premium seats could only be purchased on three-, five- or seven-year contracts.

The stadium is scheduled to host its first game on August 26, when Colorado State takes on Oregon State.
