Auburn Considering Jordan-Hare Stadium Renovation

Jordan-Hare Stadium renovation

On February 3, the Auburn board of Trustees will weigh in on a proposed overhaul to Jordan-Hare Stadium

The proposal focuses on the southwest corner of the stadium, which would be renovated to include new player and fan amenities. A 44,000 square foot structure would be added to Jordan-Hare Stadium, spanning multiple stories and introducing a new team facilities, along with upgraded club space, and a new press box.

In addition, the proposal calls for a 16,000 square foot renovation of the current home team locker room. That project would take place within the existing footprint of the stadium.

At its current estimate, the renovation is expected to cost $28 million and will be funded through athletic department revenues. More from AL.com:

“Over the last several years, the Athletics Department has been developing plans for improving Jordan-Hare Stadium to enhance the gameday experience for fans, students and players,” the document reads. “As a result of this detailed planning effort, two of the highest-priority projects for the Stadium are the development of a larger and greatly improved recruiting facility and enhancements to the home team locker room, for gameday support.”

The proposed gameday facility is part of the Jordan-Hare Stadium Improvements project that was approved by the board in February 2015.

Work could begin quickly if the project is approved. The renovations would start in May, with the construction timeline calling for them to be finished in July 2018.
